Looks like idiocy has won again. The rich will get richer, the economically vulnerable will get angrier and more frustrated as their situation won’t improve, and social tensions will rise. On the whole, we may bury the project of liberalism, i.e. the idea of a free society that welcomes people regardless their background, their beliefs, who they like to be partners with. Let’s face it: dictatorship and strong-men politics is what a majority of people around the world wants. Lies and fake news and discrimination are more appealing to that majority around the globe. They grab their respective book of cherry-pickings and say “because …” – whether or not what follows makes sense doesn’t matter so much, the uncontested claim is enough (and any contestant will rather be silenced). Those of an apocalyptic mindframe are one step closer to the fulfillment of their self-fulfilling prophecies. Contracts will be dissolved or broken, rights diminished, international relationships be contingent on some old men’s dinner jokes and the pussy-grabbing they can brag about.

I guess I should tune out from the news for the next four years or so, and quietly sing to myself “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds …”, or “ne me quitte pas” addressed to myself. WTF!
